En route to Porvenir, San Blas

12:25.930N 69:07.443W Wednesday 27th January We left Bonaire at 7.45am for Porvenir San Blas, a 725 mile sail
which should take us 5 days. Earlier this afternoon whilst sailing 25 miles off the Columbian
coast the coast guard flew over us very low, circled us then headed back to the
main land. About 30 minutes later the same thing happened but this time it was
a helicopter. They didn't call us up, so they were obviously satisfied with
what they saw. We have had reports from some yachts that are a few days in front
of us of experiencing 8 meter high waves, they are sailing closer to the land
so we are heading out staying a 100 miles off hoping for calmer seas! We have
been warned this can be a lively passage with high winds, as we are preparing
for our night watches the seas are already starting to pick up! We have also
been warned we might experience 'square seas', this is a new one on me. I hope
we don't have any tonight! Confidentiality: This e-mail and its attachments are intended for the above named only and may be confidential.
