The luxury of running water

Unfortunately, running water is not a luxury we can
enjoy now, until we have been to All Marine or Burnsco in Whangarei. Feeling a
heartfelt apology coming on to Customs and Biosecurity for having to come
onboard a boat where the housekeeping is obviously somewhat lacking
attention....
Still got that lemony smelly antibacterial spray for
tabletops, though! May give the place a freshen up
This morning the fresh water pump went absolutely
mental. A serious leak in the domestic water system! Had a wee look around for
the usual suspects - like the cockpit shower, the fix of a crack in the copper
pipe under our bed, the cracked Jabsco carbon filter under the sink which we
managed to seal temporarily with self amalgamating tape (up there with gaff tape
on my list of best things ever invented!) before leaving Fiji.... They were all
ok.
Then suddenly had a flashback to the night before the
start of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) in Nov 2022, after a lovely,
boozy last dinner on shore with our ARC team. We lost about 100 litres of lovely
fresh hot water into the bilges - one of the pipes to the calorifier (water
heater thingy) had come off. Had forgot to check the jubilee clips amidst
all the other preparations....
As we did then we did now. Popped the hose back on.
Jubilee clip tight. Sorted. Well this time not quite. Now there is a not
insubstantial leak from the threaded junction to the 40 year old
copper pipe next to it. Not going to touch that
now!
So there we are. Smelly boat (and people) until we can
legally set foot on NZ soil.
To the nice people of Biosecurity and Customs: We are so
sorry.
Everything else is well.

PS. No! it's far, far too cold for a shower on
deck out of a waterbottle, Janet! :-DD
