We have now spent more than a week in Makemo. Time really does fly. It's been breezy the last few days, but our latest anchorage behind a reef at Punaruku - which I mistakenly thought was a small village with a shop possibly..... - has given us great shelter and fab snorkeling. Lot's of bigger coral heads, great for snorkeling, not so great for anchoring. The beach has this pinkish sand we read about. They were right in Raroia: the beaches here are the best! And we have meet up with new friends.

Put a great deal of planning into getting through the North pass of Makemo. It can have up to 8 kts of current - which we will try to avoid... Low tide is around 7 in the morning. Which is not great for getting there as the light is quite low and then we have a harder time seeing the coral islands under the surface. It's a win win! ;DD

Greetings from a very tidy Skye Blue. It rained two days ago. Nothing else to do Smile emoticon

PS. Just through the pass. 1-1.5 kts of current with us still, 45 minutes after low tide. Flat as a pancake. Nice one!
