Day 26,

Dr Who fans will be delighted that we have been promoted to Time Lords.  Currently the ships clock is running at GMT (UTC) -8 hr.
But it is up to us if we change the clock today or not. The Marquesas is -10 hr but we have a few days to make the change. We realise that the external world will recognise its own time  - we are a little bubble where we can be anytime we like - want to eat in the dark? No problem. How about moving the date as well? No problem - we are Time Lords and can choose any time, date, or year. We have decided tomorrow is January 2034 - no problem!  The only snag is when we want to catch a plane, train or meeting. Ah well, maybe just stick with moving to GMT -9 hr today.

The other major milestone today is to get under 600 nautical miles to go. 600 nm has two significant characteristics  - the first is that old sailors used to describe anything under 600 nm as "plain sailing" (as opposed to a "great circle" route for navigation nerds). And I like the sound of plain sailing. But more importantly 600 nm is about how much diesel we have left in the tank and cans - so we could just about motor all the way if the wind dies - always a reassuring thought.  However the trade winds seem well established at Force 5 to 6 and we are clipping along at 7-8 knots so I think the diesel will be remaining in the cans but you never know. With steady winds comes bigger seas so we are being bounced about a bit but we are now well used living in a washing machine rather than a time machine. It is warm and sunny with a good breeze in the right direction so going for a 25 hr day today is a good call.

All is well.
