This morning I had a cup of coffee. It went so well,
that I decided to have another one. Which also went really well. On a roll! And
that's not just literally.
On the Ocean - where you are not in control of your
environment at all - it's good to celebrate the little successes. Like a cup of
coffee which is 1) still in the mug and 2) still fairly hot when you get to the
last mouthful ( honestly #2 is chancing it - I would have been counting it as a
victory if even only the first mouthful was hot)
Firstly you need to actually get the hot water from the
kettle into the mug with the instant coffee. Then transport it up the 6
steps of the companionway, then get yourself up and over the wall of death as we
call it (flybridge is the correct term) and as you must have 3 points of contact
the coffee is hopefully still where you put it once you get yourself in
safety in the cockpit. So not a small feat. The Ocean makes you work for
your treats.
Another small victory is that skipper Stephen actually
managed to get some really good sleep.
And that we are making really good progress so far. 171
nautical miles in the last 24 hours Sunday 1500 hours Fiji time to Monday
1500 hours Fiji time.
All is well.
