Well here we are in the middle of the first calm patch and tried the engine
with the intention of monitoring what was a small oil leak just to try and
manoeuvre to some wind.

However after about 30 min with very little leakage, the engine went into a
race condition the revs climbing furiously and was reluctant to turn off
with the engine stop control and oil covered the top and front of the
engine...so i guess we will not be using that again! checked the oil level
with the dip stick and it looks ok. i suspect a guvnor in the fuel system
failed, the over revving built up too much pressure in the oil system and it
spilled out the top of the engine possibly the filler cap.

so it is back to sails only and wait for the wind to come back. Worry about
the entrance to Opua and the berthing, when we get closer

ho hum hope for some wind soon!

right having written it down i feel a bit better
