Flying Cloud

Today has not been a day of rest. Shortly after the dawn squid and flying fish removal, we changed from the genneker to the large pink asymmetric spinnaker. We continued to hurtle (a slow jog in human terms) along at 10-11 knots for most of the local morning giving us a 24 hour run of 225nm per the log, 245 miles per the GPS and 231nm nearer to our target! These are new records for the Cloud - which just proves that sailing double handed can be much more efficient than with a full crew! After breakfast we kicked off the first boxing match between us - a friendly (we have only been at sea together for 4.5 days!).

After that we resumed our one hour yoga session - which is having a most beneficial impact! Matt cooked an excellent lunch, and then it was time to change from the asymmetric kite to the Big Pink. After a quick rest we went almost straight into design and measurement for the forward awning which is to be made on the boat as we go with our new sewing machine (we may also start manufacturing our crew arrival clothes tomorrow - Jenny, Matt and I have to make each other something to wear from scrap boat stuff).

Coin de la Capitaine:
Comme d'hab, tout vas biens a bord le Nuage Volant, et on est en trein de devorrer toutes nos records de vitesse! On continue a manger tres biens, et nous sommes en excellente sante!
What more is there to say about the day really? Other than Julian is proving an excellent ability to take a good punch... A couple of my swings connected a little harder than I'd meant, and yet he kept on smiling! As with every long passage on the Cloud, I'm falling more and more in love with her: She sails along so beautifully, providing us with such an excellent living platform while at the same time ticking off the Miles at an exceptional rate, it's too bad I can't simply have her for my wife! Happy times.
