Av speed: 5.4 knots
Wind: 5 to 13 knots
Engine hours: 10 hrs!

OK, right now we are here for a long time not a good time! Engines are off and not going back on.
There is a very gentle SOUTHWESTERLY breeze!! It isn't supposed to be here. Never mind. We have achieved the mission of the day: to leave Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz) and head North around Isabela so that i get my chance to be baptised by King Triton. As i was asleep during the North journey, my visit from King Triton will take place as we pass South through the equator. Given that we are being taken Northwest still by the very strong current off of the island that may be some time.

However we have had a good day. El Capitain and I spent the morning using lots of fresh water to scrub the boat and complete crossing preparations. Bob Marley and U2 took it in turns to give us the energy to get the job done. For most of the afternoon i have been struggling to learn the guitar (actual i have master 5 chords and can do 3 strings of scales so i don't feel that bad). Yoga classes resume again in the morning and maybe our first boxing session in the afternoon. Other than that not much to report - judging by the log entry from Matt last night he is already missing Jenny's food (yes i cooked pasta - but could barely be bothered), meanwhile i'm missing a singing partner.

Captain's corner:
Go North, an excellent idea! If we do end up found, drifting along with our bones bleached in the sun, I can only say that I will have been justified in eating him to sustain myself! All is going well, after the much needed boat scrubbing, I went down to sort the chaos that had become my room... Three hours of napping later, I awoke to Julian serenading me with the guitar. Now, after a few hours of work, my room is starting to take the shape of a room again.
Our actual course at present is 291, when I was hoping we'd be steering 240 or even more South, but hey: the wind is only supposed to blow from this direction about 2% of the time this month and we've already used up our quota! No matter, it's simply an extension of our allotted time to get fitter.
Julian's the chef again tonight, after I re-invented his pasta from last night and made it a red-cheddar and tuna mac-and cheese for lunch. He's just discovered the 3 steaks he defrosted for our supper is actually about 200g of minced beef! It'll be interesting to see what's on the dinner plate tonight!
