As the forecast today was for rain (and there was plenty of it during
the night to prove the point!) we decided to hire a car and look
around Guadeloupe. Its a big old island, and we managed about 25% of
it in 6 hours of quite tiring driving. We stayed on Basse Terre -
which is the Leward part of the "butterfly island" - and explored the
mountains and rainforest. Our main goal was the Carbet Falls - which i
had mislead the girls into thinking was a swimming opportunity. When
we arrived it became clear that it wasn't. Fortunately we had €3 left
by the time we arrived at the park, which was just enough to pay the
€2.4 entrance!
The rain forest was spectacular - and accessible for a 3 3/4 year
old..... even though some of the leaves were bigger than Daisy!
As we searched the island for a cash dispenser (never found one with
any money in it) we cane across this fruit man picture that Ella loved.
