Today, after a quick shop and a trip to the Gendarmes to clear out, we visited the highly recommended Daniel's Bay - although sadly Daniel is no longer with us.

Again the scenery is breathtaking, and the key objective of our trip was a 1.5 hour trek up a river to the 3rd tallest waterfall in the world.

We crossed the river in a few places (not very deep) and eventually got to the falls.... high yes, powerful no. More like standing under a shower - clearly it hadn't rained for a while. On the way back Matt was stopped by the locals to help mend a small quad bike by more super nice Marquesians (they really are the nices, warmest people i think i have met). Anyway, we have decided to gert back underway tonight and head the 550nm `SE to the Touamotus before our final destination of Tahiti.

Captain's corner:
I thought the waterfall was actually pretty fantastic, it had carved an amazing cavern into the side of the cliff... Jules' and I had an excellent swim inside it. Unfortunately, Jules also decided (for some inexplicable reason) to leave the camera on a rock before we swam the last 30 m up to the waterfall... That's why you have to settle for the fantastic shot of me with a teeny bit of a waterfall in the background!
