Reached the top end of the high pressure system we
have been skirting since St Martin so altered course and are now headed directly
for Horta in the Azores. Had a celebratory lunch designed by Flanno. Too much
though, we were all very sleepy afterward.
Picked up Bermuda radio communications with
shipping even though we were 280 miles south. Tom reckons its being bounced off
the ionisphere in the high pressure.
Motoring again - becalmed again this evening at
sunset.
Visibilty seems somewhat restricted this evening
and erie resizing of the little world in which the four of us live.
Wind picked up around 0100 and we are now making 5
knots.
The sea has bid us a hazy good morning
today.
Its our first morning on our new course 073 degrees
so there is no need for a compass, for the moment, the sun has laid a watery
path for us to follow.
Getting ready to make lunch now. We are still on
the huge loaf of never ending bread we bought in a French Bakery on Sunday. We
asked them for something that would last a while. It certainly did the
job.
We also have a flying fish which landed on deck
last night to add to the pot.
The weed has subsided somewhat but there are still
a lot of Portuguese Men of War around. Tom god a sting from a tenticle that was
hanging on the towed generator when we lifted it to check for weed. Treated with
vinegar its still slightly swolen but OK
Checked the auto pilot also yesterday. Seems to be
an odd noise coming from inside the ram. Nothing we can do about it except wait
till it breaks. Steering a little more now by hand to add to its life
span.
Nightwatch tonight is on Joey
At the helm hes a little bit showy
wears all his new gear
the nlatest this year
And the bread he makes is quite doughy
Sailing along with O'Leary
He can always answer a query
some miles from the land
he got stung on the hand
And his answers since have been dreary
Flanno's been eating his dinner
He'supposed to be getting much thinner
now, not to be rude
but he's stealing our food
Aboard ship thats the sign of a sinner
The skipper is called R Prender
To the crew he's a bit of a bender
he looks quite queenie
in his bright green mankini
But covers up going out in the tender
