From Tahiti we made the short crossing to Moorea and went into Cook's Bay, named after Captain Cook.

This bay has spectacular scenery and if often seen on travel brochures for Polynesia

Pinapple plantations on the hillside.

While anchored in the bay, we shared a car with our friends from Toucan and did the round island tour.

From this lookout, we can see Cooks Bay......

....and Oponohu Bay a few miles to the west....

...and even both bays at the same time!

A popular beach with the locals.

A resort with the obligatory over water bungalows.  Evidently this concept was started in the 1960's
on Moorea by a couple of Americans who had come out to run a vanilla plantation....or so the tourist
brouchure said.

Tahiti as seen from Moorea.

Looking at the tall peaks we can see from Cooks Bay from the other side of the island.

This little roadside stall is selling sea urchins....

,,,,collected off the reef by these guys.

We stopped at a small resort where they were putting the finishing touches to this tattooed warrior.

A friendly dobermann.

The ladies practising their paddling technique.

At the Tiki village (a tourist trap that puts on Polynesian dances and shows) they were preparing for
a traditional Tahitian wedding.

Here come the bride and groom (an Italian couple who were in fact on their honeymoon), followed by
the officating priest.

The bride being presented.  She fortunately did not have to wear a coconut shell bra.....

.......and even more fortunately the groom did not have to have his backside
tattooed.

We moved around to the anchorage at the top of Oponohu Bay.

Passing another resort.

And anchoring off a pretty bayside park.  A shop nearby sold baguettes and the water was clear as
a bell so we spent a couple of days enjoying....

....before saying good bye to Moorea and heading off to Huahine in the Leeward Islands.
