After seven days at sea, the Cape Verde Islands dramatic volcanic landscape
was a
welcome sight.
The lighthouse on a small island at the entrance to Mindelo harbour on
Sao
Vicente Island.
was built like The Great Wall
The busy harbour came into sight.
Stardust leaving the refueling dock as we await our turn.
A welcome opportunity to stretch our legs with a walk around the small but
colourful town.
We enjoyed a 2 day stay in the local marina. Where we were able to use our
air con.
We have now crossed The Tropic of Cancer and it is getting hot.
The flee markets in the centre of Mindelo
and fresh produce was being sold in the street.
The Cape Verdes were a former Portuguese colony. So yet another language
challenge
for us!
We walked into town one evening to see the Christmas decorations.
and listen to the brass band playing Christmas carols in the park.
Since we will now have Christmas (and New Year) at sea, Santa visted
early.
Today, Monday 20th. We will leave this afternoon for Martinique, 2071 NM
to
the west.
