We arrived in the anchorage near Papeete at 2 a.m. and went into town early
in the morning to do our check in with customs and immigration. Maccas was
close to where we came ashore so we had a quick breakfast before catching
the bus downtown. This outlet certainly had the best views of any
Mcdonalds.
![]() The island of Moorea, our next destination, as viewed from the anchorage,
which was calm even..
![]() with a big surf pounding the reef.
![]() Downtown on the waterfront there were several groups playing polynesian
music on ukeleles and guitars
![]() The town hall had an exhibition of arts and crafts so we went in for a
look.
![]() Sandra was very tempted by this hat....
![]() ...and this one.
![]() This tiki in the grounds is very old.
![]() ...and this one is a really mean looking fella.
![]() Papeete market is always an interesting visit.
![]() ![]() This stall is selling steamed pork and there was a long queue, so we bought
some...delicious.
![]() Other stalls were selling roast pork.
![]() There were fish stalls with an amazing variety of fish..........
![]() ![]() ![]() .........and lots of fruit and veges
![]() ![]() Paddling canoes is a popular sport and recreation thoughout the islands, in
groups....
![]() ...or singly....
![]() ...or even with your dog.
![]() These floating thatched huts were popular with groups who hired them for
the day....
![]() and go down to the reef and spent the day partying.
![]() ![]() Roadside fish sellers.
![]() Snack bars with outside dining are plentiful.
![]() We had an excellent meal at this one.
