In Porto Cervo we hired this little 2 seat Smart car for a trip across the island
to the west coast.  An amazing car with astonishing performance.  We liked
the racing car style paddles for changing gears.  They are made by Mercedes
and are very popular here in Europe.

The medieval town of Alghero.

This is the Sardinian flag, based on the flag of the Kingdom of Aragon, which once occupied Sardinia.  The four
heads are of Moors with bandanas, evidently commemorating some victory in the past over the Arabs.

Coast road south of Alghero

The town of Bosa, with the citadel above.

Views of Bosa from the citadel.

A hill  village in the interior of Sardinia.

Back on the east coast, this island, Isola Cappucino, had a small resort with unusual architecture which.........

........blended  in with the rocks.

In the Golfo di Arachenzia.  We thought the scenery here reminded us some what of south western NSW,
around Albury for example.

Every beach had its contingent of Africans selling hats, clothing and costume jewellery.  Here is Sandra
deciding  if any of the hats would suit her.

A wine filling station..bring your own bottles.  I am not sure why we don't have these in Australia.  Perhaps
you wouldn't get a licence, or they wouldn't let you fill unsterilised bottles.

The Maddalena National Park on the NE coast is very pretty, with many anchorages.  The sea is many
beautiful shades of blue.

A well preserved schooner.

Leaving Sardinia to cross the Bonifacio Strait to Corsica, hoisting the French flag for the first time.  We really
enjoyed our time in Sardinia, a great cruising area.  But time is passing and we have a lot more to see....
