We left Rockland in the fog, and stayed a night in a foggy bay on the way to Portland. Cant really tell you if it was nice or not, they all look the same on radar

We didn't have great expectations for Portland as our cruising guide wasn't too positive about the place, but we liked it. We ended up staying four nights anchored just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of this historic port. One of the upsides was that we found a curry house and had our first Indian meal in a long, long time.

It was Frances's birthday whilst we were here so she had a double birthday treat. First of all she got to deal with a very bad cut on the hand of a young girl working at the marina where we had come ashore in the dinghy. We made a hasty trip back to Alia Vita for medical supplies and fixed her up the best we could. Always good to keep your hand in.  Later we went out for dinner to a very nice Italian for birthday celebrations.

Portland was quite lively, there was street music, happy hours with free food which was great, and lots of history. A good place to visit.
