We arrived in Las Palmas in the night after a boisterous sail down from Madeira. The ocean swell was the biggest we have encountered to date, but the boat took it very well and much better than the crew. Of the five crew on board only, two saw their dinners again, two turned a bit green and only Frances was unaffected. As it was dark and we were all tired we opted to drop anchor outside the marina and have a lie in before checking in to the marina.

The rally organisers held seminars on all aspects of ocean sailing including provisioning, use of sextants, dealing with emergencies plus many more, and we attended most of these.
