Jolly Harbour, Antigua, 17 05N, 62 55W. We arrived back in Jolly Harbour yesterday after having a bit of a tour around the south and west coasts of Antigua. We spent a night in Saint John’s harbour which is the capital city of Antigua, where there were four cruise liners when we entered and we were one of only three yachts there.
The following day (13th February) we went to Falmouth Harbour where we picked up a mooring and it is easy to see why Falmouth and English Harbours are so popular. They are both set in natural and well sheltered harbours and have excellent facilities. We are all glad we made the effort to go there.
Yesterday, at Martin and Andy’s suggestion, we anchored in Carlisle Bay on the way back to Jolly Harbour for a couple of hours, where we went for a swim and Louise, Martin and Ian took the dinghy to the reef and anchored so that they could go snorkeling. Louise had a bit of a fright when see saw a dark shadow beneath her and called on Ian and Martin to pick her up in the dinghy, but the shadow turned out to be a lump of rock.
Today, its Ian’s birthday so we wish him many happy returns of the day and wish him luck next week as the takes the second part of his Yachtmaster Offshore exam.
Also, a big thanks to Louise and Martin for their company and we hope they have a safe journey home today.
