Noon position 26 22N, 21 38W, day’s run 117, DTG 2328. This evening, we are
running with the poled out yankee (to leeward) main and mizzen and making about
6 knots in 16 knots of wind. Ian discovered a little problem with the stern
gland this morning and this will have to be managed until we arrive in Barbados,
and it’s at times like this I’m glad we have a mechanic aboard.
The watch system continues to work quite well and we have our main
meals together at 08.00 and 20.00 with lunch being a relaxed affair which is
left to the watches or individuals to decided on what to eat.
The time of noon today was 13.14 and Steve and Ian took the sight and then
the three of us worked it out, giving a latitude of 200 18 whilst the
GPS gave 200 20 and we were pleased with that. Steve also
took an afternoon sight and entered the data into his i-pad app and the position
was very accurate.
At last, Andy and I have eventually put up some netting for the soft fruit
and some vegetables to try and make it last longer, as the bananas are softening
at an alarming rate.
Steve won the day’s run competition.
We are now well beyond AIS range (and Navtex shortly) but our position will
be plotted daily on our blog as long as we update
it. |
