Noon position 28 02N, 15 21W, distance to go 2700 nm. We left Las Palmas this morning at 10.30 after a full english breakfast in the marina and made good progress up until about three o’clock when the winds died down. We tried to make the most of the light winds but at 17.30 we put the iron jib to work so that we can clear Gran Canaria. We started our watch routine at midday and we will see how we get on with it.
Steve, who joined us yesterday, had an epic journey to reach us with his flight being diverted twice due to the weather, and he actually landed in Gran Canaria (instead of Tenerife) but despite his best efforts, he was not allowed go get off the plane! When he eventually landed in Tenerife, the ferry service was cancelled and so he had to stay overnight in Santa Cruz.
We have all put £10 on what we think will be our arrival date and time in Barbados. The two optimists have gone for the 22nd of December whilst the two pessimists have gone for the 23rd. Time will tell.
