Qiuinta do Lorde. Yesterday, we went to Funchal using the public bus service, which was on time and very cheap, and we enjoyed walking about the streets there. The impression we get of Madeira is that it is quite prosperous and fertile, with the infrastructure being quite modern.

This is our last day here in Quinta and we have made a few repairs to the boat this morning, filled up the water tanks and done mundane things like laundry and cleaning out the boat. Tomorrow, we intend travelling south to the Ilhas Selvagens, then south east to Lanzarote and exploring the Canary Islands from east to west.

After talking with various people (including a couple on a boat from Holyhead!) it looks like we will have to take fishing seriously, and so our spear gun technician/operative has managed to get it working this morning and we have dome an inventory of the fishing gear onboard, in readiness for some extreme fishing Sea Spray style
