24th September

Seaspray
Wed 24 Sep 2014 10:49
Noon position 36 52N, 14 23W. Day’s rub 180 at an average speed of 7 knots.
We are now just under 300 miles from Funchal and the winds have eased off for a
while and so we have the engine on to recharge the batteries to keep us going
for the next 24 hours. The watch system (2 hours on 4 hours off) is making us
weary and so we are trying to catch up with sleep even though the boats motion
and noise sometimes makes it difficult.
Last night during an accidental gybe, the AIS aerial was damaged and even
though we have had a look at it today, we can’t find anything amiss even though
we can’t see other ships and so for the time being we will have to assume its
not working.
The weather is overcast and showery, although warm. But we need the
sun! |
