23rd December

Seaspray
Tue 23 Dec 2014 21:20
Noon position 14 27N, 48 42W, day’s run 115, DTG 642. Our sail plan remains
unchanged although the winds have eased off a touch, hence the lower day’s runs
we are getting now. Our ETA looks like Monday morning unless we get some
slightly stronger winds.
Andy is as busy as ever in the galley and Steve is making the most of the
opportunity to use the sextant.
Yesterday, I’d made a bread mix and we had left it overnight to see if some
of the moisture in it would evaporate away but when I turned in last night I had
decided to throw it away and start again. When I was getting ready for the
morning watch at eight, I noticed that the oven was on and I assumed that Ian
and Steve were making something for breakfast, but it turned out that they
wanted to see what would happen to my glutinous mess when it had been baked.
After forty minutes, the baking tray came out and it contained something
resembling a loaf, so much so that within ten minutes it had been
consumed. Whilst not perfect, Ian and I were spurred on to make another mix and
this one turned out perfectly so a big thank you to my Mam who gave me some good
advice when we tried some bread mixes some time ago.
