Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The weather here is very mixed. We have had some warm, sunny days but also very wet and cold ones. The temperature has been down to three degrees celsius and because of that we have moved into an apartment for a week. It is pure bliss to sleep in a proper bed and have a plentiful supply of hot water!

Anyhow, the work on the boat is progressing painfully slowly. Ian has sourced a water pump for the engine in the U.K. and is in the process of arranging for that to be shipped over but the big unknown is the electrical system. The electrician visited the boat on Friday and has given an undertaking to come and spend a day to see if we can get to the bottom of the electrical system. Rather worryingly, he said that beause of the spikes of 33 volts the batteries had, that they may be permanently damaged. We will wait and see.

A guy we met when we first arrived here, Aaron, has been more than helpful to Sea Spray and we are very grateful to him. Aaron works for Canadian Army but has also done a spell as a firefighter/ EMT and it has been interesting talking to him about the fire and rescue service in Canada.

On a lighter side, even though Halifax is a small city of about half a million inhabitants, it seems to have more than it's fair share of micro-breweries and craft beers, a fact Aaron confirmed by saying that it has the highest rate of these per capita in the world.
