We paid our second visit to the hospital today and Anita
had her wounds checked and re-dressed. All seems ok and we are to report back
again on Saturday. Looks like a visit every two days until they are sure there
is no infection and healing is well underway. The stitches are not self
dissolving so we will have to have them removed at the hospital before we leave
or John will have to take them out when they are ready. The Doctor has advised
Anita to keep her hand in a sling so she is now fitted out with a proper collar
and cuff device which is driving her around the bend as there is not much she
can do for herself whilst wearing it. We have to find her a hairdressers today
so she can get her hair washed – she is not keen on John using the wash
down hose to do it. We are also going to try and get up the cable car to the
top of Gibraltar tomorrow and start having a
look around. A small but fascinating place steeped in history – mostly naval.
It’s quite amazing how such a small place could have such an impact on
events in Europe and the Mediterranean. Its interesting
that in comparison with the USA, Bermuda and the Caribbean, the marina’s
we have come across so far on this side of the pond are pretty disorganised and
untidy in comparison and getting them to answer emails and phone calls is very
difficult. Hopefully this will improve as we move further east but the news
from other boats is not encouraging. Equally chandleries are well below the
standard we have come to expect on the eastern seaboard so keeping stores up to
speed on the boat is not going to be as straightforward as it was before. We
are both enjoying Gib and the enforced stop here looks like being great fun
apart from the bi-daily walk to the hospital.
