Charles excelled himself at making breakfast this
morning – he must have a good mum – someone trained him! Blueberry
pancakes no less along with generous helpings of honey. We then had to rest of
course before doing a basic on deck clean up of Osprey. This only took half an
hour with the odd swim interspersed, and Charles the returned to Wilbur Smiths
Blue Horizon before launching the dinghy into race mode. I have some great
pictures of the dinghy airborne and in full flight. We left our beautiful Island at about 1200 and headed for Turtle Cove. The wind
was with us and with only the Genoa
we smoked along. It was a great sail. It was only ten miles and we were quickly
at the entrance to the lagoon. We had arranged for a “Blind Guide”
dog to be sent out to help pilot us in and even though we followed in his track
diligently we still grounded on one sand bar. Fortunately we were traveling fast
enough to “skip” over it. We really are on the top end of
size to get in here. The entrance to the marina is very narrow and we could not
have turned around had we had to. Straight to the fuel dock where we cleared
customs and paid our dues before filling up the fuel tanks. Then we had a
tricky little trip around to a berth where we now are head in to the dock –
the berth is really too small for us but with a little help from Charles
aquatic skills when he dove into the water to position a stern line we are now
safely tied up – albeit with some minor varnish repairs to do at first
light and before Anita see it. Spoke to Anita who is now in Fort
Lauderdale and heading out to dinner with the Richardson’s. She and Geoff should
arrive here tomorrow in time for lunch with Charles before his flight.
