12th February - St Barts. The wind is gradually starting to die down although there are still some substantial seas running. We decided to leave Gustavia this morning and travel the short distance north to the marine park. The anchor came up cleanly with Anita firmly in control. Winds were still gusting 25 knots which was throwing the boat around a bit but we had plenty of space to move around in. The seas were definitely not to Anita's liking once we were clear of the shelter provided by the land but it only took half an hour to reach the marine park. Anita was a little concerned that we would not look good if we didn't pick up the buoy first time as there were a number of observers looking for entertainment whilst they had their breakfast - however we got it first timeand were tied up in short order. This is a beautiful little sheltered bay with a pleasant beach. A national marine park so no anchoring allowed on the coral - the park provide the buoys of which there are about six suited to our size. We were fortunate that one became vacant just as we arrived. We are out of the wind and have caught up with our laundry which will dry quickly in the sun and avoid the need to use the tumble dryer. Weather forecast is improving and is excellent for the rest of the month from Saturday. We will have a look at it in the morning and make a decision on whether to head of for Dead Mans Chest in the BVI either tomorrow or early Saturday morning. Meanwhile Anita has sleeping sickness and is starting to relax.
