A real mixed 24 hours - the wind returned yesterday evening and we flew along at 8.5 knots through the night. As the sun rose this morning the wind vanished and we have been motor sailing since then. We fixed the leak on the fresh water system this morning and although we have plenty of water in our remaining tank have run up the water maker ths afternoon to give it some exercise. We also tried flying the cruising chute when the wind dropped but there was not enough even for that so we are just using the genoa and the motor. Looking ahead at the T & C islands we are going to be very tight on draft for most of the reef passages and have just sent and email to Turtle Cove asking them if we will be able to squeeze up the channel. After the amount of motoring we have done we will definately need fuel before the next leg. One of the advantages of motor saling with only the genoa is that we can have Anita's tent up through the heat of the day. It works well and makes a huge difference to the boat temperature which climbs quickly when there is no breeze.
