17th February - A lovely quiet day at Sopers Hole pottering around the village. Anita went off for her leg waxing at 1000 whilst John sat out the hour in a local waterside restaurant having breakfast. Anita found the waxers to be the local fount of knowledge which determined that a taxi to Road town and back was more expensive than hiring a car for the day. They also pointed us at the local car hire firm which was a mile up the road. Needless to say we took a wrong turning and had to stop at the local village shop to ask direction. We were immediately given a lift by two local girls in the shop - a real island trait this giving anyone a lift - and we were at the car hire company in minutes and arranged a car for the following day. We decided to take the day to have a good look around rather than rush at it. We then did some basic shopping during which we picked up a nice French Baguette and some Brie which we proceeded to have for lunch when we returned to Osprey. A siesta followed then some routine maintenance - John overhauled a sticky staysail winch then it was off to the Jolly Roger for dinner. The place is not large and was fully utilised. Dinner here is early as most people are heading for their bed by 2130. We received an email from Susan on Corcovada letting us know they were coming into Supers Hole on Tuesday so we will have dinner with them when we return from our trip around the island.
