Lovely fall day in Portland with temps in the high 70's. Completed the
initial topside clean up and overhauled/cleaned/painted the
dorades.Proved, greased and fitted all the Dorade blanks - might need them
on the way to Bermuda. Still have a minor leak at the partners which will
attack tomorrow. Leak in the after head deckhead now seems to have
surrendered to the PYS ministrations. Will continue hose testing with
morning washdown to make sure all have been eliminated. Swapped berths to
get at the shore power and test the new batteries / charger. Nearly lost
it leaving the old berth as had forgotten Willy had fitted a new autopilot
solonoid and with the switch in the wrong position lost steering as we
were pulling out. Went for a tour of the harbour to test the engine and
prop bearing which is now a lot smoother. If this weather holds will get
all the sails up/ checked and aired whilst the sun is out and suspend all
below deck work until a rainy day.
