The marina here was flying at full speed by 0900 this Saturday morning and
is obviously a major gathering spot for breakfast. We gave up trying get
around the queues for breakfast at our local café. We were anyway a little
short of time as we had an appointment at the hospital at 1030. The visit to
the hospital was fast and efficient and Anita was given an all clear until
Wednesday at 0940. Her wound is healing nicely and we are now able to change
her dressings ourselves as and when we feel the need. The hospital has
supplied us with a stock of bandages although we have plenty in the first
aid kit. From the hospital we went over to Morrison's and did a little
shopping - the limit being what we (John) could carry back to the boat which
is a reasonable hike. We also found out that Morrison's would summon a taxi
if we needed one, so for the larger shop before we leave we will use that
service. We will just need to stock up on basics to leave on board for when
John comes down during the winter to work on the boat as it will be easier
than shopping around Smir. Having deposited everything on the boat we went
ashore for a light lunch bearing in mind we had a reservation at Gauchos for
dinner. In the afternoon we did some cleaning around the boat and then
invited Tim (from New Zealand/Whangarei) over for drinks before heading off
for Gauchos. The meal there was great and like most things here inexpensive
in comparison to what we are used to in the UK. We decided that on Sunday we
would walk to see the tunnels that were built to protect Gibraltar in many
wars and also visit the museum that are in the same area. We are also going
to investigate a hire car fro Monday or Tuesday so we can have a look around
the adjacent areas of Spain.
