We left the anchorage at Finisterre on saturday
morning in very light wind, and motored towards the ria of Muros. After a couple
of hours there was enough breeze to hoist the genneker, and we enjoyed the first
use of that sail this year, following some repairs at La Corunna.Anchored in the
bay off the town of Muros a little after 2.00 pm, the only boat in the bay.
Later on another 7 or 8 boats turned up to anchor around us, the busiest we have
seen in Spain. Ashore for an evening stroll in the town, and some octopus and
sardines.
A lazy Sunday, getting underway at 1030 to motor
round the corner to the Ensenada de san Francisco, a good beach where we swam
and walked before a late lunch. Then up anchor and sailed across the Ria to
Portosin, where we secured at the marina run by the local yacht club. Excellent
dinner in the yacht club restaurant.
On Monday morning we took the bus up the Ria to
Noia, and then on to Santiago de Compostela, an hours journey for a
very modest 3 euros. A lovely day being amazed by the wonderful sights and
lovely atmosphere of the old city. Quite impossible to adequately describe
the experience. We returned well pleased in the evening for a quiet dinner
onboard.
Today we have remained at Portosin to take
advantage of the local facilities, such as washing machines and internet. Took a
trip in to Noia for shopping and sightseeing in the morning, some lovely old
buildings, and a lot of work going on to conserve and improve the town. Also a
very good market.
Tomorrow we are hoping to get around to the
next ria south, Ria de Arousa, although today there is a northerly gale blowing
out at sea. Here in the ria it is breezy but sunny.
Hope we can make use of the wi fi connection here
to send some photos to the blog.
