Spellbinder

Set off at 0820 on Wed 6th June from the anchorage in Anse de Dinan to catch the favourable tide around the Pointe du Raz west of Douarnenez.Picked up a strong southerly stream, reaching 6 knots, which combined with the favourable force 4 NE breeze to give us 12 knots over the ground.Lovely cloudless day, but hazy, and we sped on around Pointe de Penmarch and so on to the south coast of Brittany.Around the point and into Loctudy, a busy fishing port with a large fairly new marina.Dinner ashore.
Borrowed bicycles from the marina for shopping the next morning, including beautiful fresh John Dory. After an early lunch set off for the Belon river, attracted by the famous oysters.A slow sail in light winds had us up to the visitors buoys by 1930, and John Dory for supper.
Dinghy trip to explore the river on Friday morning, and ashore to buy oysters. then on in a light breeze to the Ile de Groix, south of Lorient. To anchor off Locmaria on the south side of the island, to sup on Belon oysters. It's a tough life in Spellbinder.
