Crossed from The Helford to Falmouth on Saturday afternoon, berthing at the Pendennis marina next to the Maritime museum. On Sunday morning we had visits from David and Becky, and David and Margaret Rider. and Tim Wright arrived to join the crew. Finally sailed from Falmouth at 1930 after a hot meal, and headed south past the Manacles rocks under engine. wind light and southerly, low cloud and mist patches. Remained under engine until 0830 Monday morning, when there was sufficient breeze from the north to sail.Slowly increased to N f4, and clearer conditions. Arrived at L'Aber Wrac at 1420, securing to a buoy off the UCPA. Dinner ashore to celebrate our arrival in France.
Dropped off Tim after breakfast on Tuesday morning, and then continued in a lovely f4 north easterly breeze to go through the Chenal du Four inside Ushant. Across the Brest estuary, and round the southern headland to anchor in a sheltered bay, the Anse de Dinan, just across the peninsula from Camaret, and nicely sheltered from the north east. Dinner onboard.
Plan to continue round to Loctudy on the south Brittany coast tomorrow.
