Progress report

Spellbinder
Wed 9 May 2007 12:45
Spellbinder was launched this morning, after two weeks ashore. The hull has been blasted clean, and then protected by Cuprotek. This is an anti fouling system which uses particles of copper sprayed on to an epoxy coating. This should give 10 years protection against fouling, so saving the annual ritual with more conventional finishes. Log on in 2017 to see how it went.
The other major work has been the fitting of the "Monitor" windvane self steering equipment.Henry has become an expert in drilling holes in stainless steel, or sufficient of an expert to say never again.
The Iridium satellite phone system is now installed and working, the Sat C satellite communications system is also installed, but not working. Advice is being sought from the manufacturer.
For the techy reader, we have also fitted a ground plate below the water line, and have grounded the weather fax. This has made a remarkable improvement to the quality of the weather fax images.
