Day 318 - Ahe 'Tuamotu's'
7th June I arose to a grey and windy morning and unfortunately I had
slept well past the peak fishing period but I still gave it a crack only to
have my bait eaten and taken under a rock by a sneaky fish, it was all over after
that having my line broken I new I had better save my bait and tackle for the
evening. I did however clean the cock pit and scrub the floors and benches to
rid the boat of fish stench. While out working away I used a big chunk of Bone
fish to lure in a lovely predator the Giant Travelly or GT as I like to refer
to him as. It was actually quite a stroke of luck because just as I sat down to
do a little reading I herd the line go, and as per usual every thing got put on
hold for the wonderful moment of me winding in another fish, the only good
thing about pulling this guy in was that he swam all over the place and I
really enjoyed watching my line move from left to right but out of ten I can
only give him a 6 for fighting ability, maybe he was actually on my line for a lot
longer and I only happened to here him by chance after he tired but anyhow he
was in the pan so to speak. I was actually even more exited to pull such a beautiful
white fleshy meat onboard because Travelly makes a great lot of fish treats,
and as I always do when I have such a variety of fish stocks I ustiles what I
can to produce my favorite raw fish meals. Half went into a Garlic Minceded Raw fish meal, which
consisted of Whole Garlic finely chopped, Onion finely chopped, Green Capsicum finely
chopped, some jalapeño peppers, 2 tea spoons of pepper corns, salt
pepper and The other half went into my belovered Civiche which was
again onion, diced fish, salt, pepper, dill weed, ginger and capers and oh my
god it is amazing I mean you just have to taste this stuff and you are sold for
life. |
