We woke up early after avoiding the towns festivities the night before as we knew it was time to leave. We slipped our lines Thursday 11th September at 8:40AM and sailed off, headed for Bayona the last stop for the west of Spain 42:07.13N 8:50.35W

We were both glad to wake to a fogless morning and to be off once again after our unplanned prolonged stay. It was actually really good to be back on the water now the low pressure systems coming in from the Atlantic had passed. We had wind and it was behind us and all we needed to do was point Silky in the right direction and go for it.

A heap of Dolphins came and said hi to us on our way in to Bayona which is always nice. As we sailed into port we headed straight for the fuel station to fill our tanks with diesel and water before running a shore for a beer and a spot of shopping. We have it sorted now the whole stopping off for a bit and then coming back to the boat to move out into the deep and drop anchor for the night. So far Fiona and I have some how not had to pay for a berth in over a month which has really helped with our budget. If we can keep it up we may even manage to be able to afford to make it all the way home!

Bayona looked like a really nice place, it had a tone of trendy shops and everyone was friendly as per usual but we were on a mission to make some ground so we did not stay a second night. I guess I am thankful that we did not arrive for another festival

Special comments by Fiona:. To have school of Dolphins swim with us for at least half an hour was exhilarating!  They swam at the bow of the boat, criss crossing each other and every now and then leaping out of the water to say hello to us.  I now know what it means to “swim with the Dolphins!”

It was great to be under sail again, especially with some good wind behind us.  I do love stopping off at little towns, but even more I love being on the move to another unknown place.
