Day 17 - Penzance

Silk Sheets
Ben Shute & Fiona Kennelly
Wed 6 Aug 2008 17:44

We did not move a meter today, Wednesday 6th August, I played on my computer like a nerdy 14 year old instead and ate chicken.

Well not entirely true because I did do a few things around the boat that needed some attention like putting up my brand new storm jib (lets pray I never need to use it).  I rigged up a new trace to catch some bigger fish and drank scotch. Craig repacked Fiona’s life jacket that went off for no apparent reason (lets hope it still works after Craig has stuffed with it)

Oh I also managed to download an amazing piece of software that models the weather patterns and can tell you where the wind will be and what direction. This has lead to the 3 of us to say “so long to the UK and hello France”….. We leave first thing tomorrow morning as soon at the lock opens about 7AM. On out we go on our 150 Kt miles track across East Biscay. I guess that is a lot better in a way for our in experienced crew, not that I can talk but a 36-40 hour sail is probably a lot safer then the 4 full days we had planned leaving from Scilly.

I guess it is a shame not getting the chance to go to the Scilly Isles however the show must go on.

The boat is going well, a little damp at the moment due to the stupid rain, not a lot of sun to charge the battery’s either so I had to beg the poor fishermen on the shore for a lend of the power lead today just so I could charge my battery’s.

Special comments by Fiona:  Can’t wait to leave this horrible weather and poor excuse for summer behind!  Tomorrow, the day we leave, will be 2 years to the day since I officially arrived in the UK.  Farewell Penzance (That’s Pant’s) and hello France…..
