Australia day this year was an absolute cracking weekend, the sun was out and Myles had somehow wrangled himself a slab of VB and brought it down to the Marina for an early start on the Saturday morning. This was Myles 2nd time down to the boat and his second time he had come to help paint on the Antifoul, and a great job at that. I had the honor of OIC BBQ and I promise you there were no disappointed faces only envious ones as people got the waft of lamb cutlets being cooked while we work next to the boat. This was a strategic move so that at anytime a lamb cutlet could be snacked on for good measure.

I put on a different Antifoul this year which came up looking a lot better than the product I used the year before however I will have to wait to see how it turns out. I do not really want to have to pull her out of the water for another 2 years or so but I will not count on it. The Anodes on the bottom of the boat had taken a bit of a beating so I replaced them also however I rewired the engine block and gearbox / saildrive direct to the large pear shape anode to help take some of the load.

I must also mention that Fiona spent a lot of the winter washing down and sanding back the bottom of the boat to get it ready to be painted, it was a very difficult and wet job and she did a fantastic job but is does bring a comment to mind, you see while the boat was out I had a machinist cut and make a teak grate for the cockpit, the day he was here to measure up and do the final fit he looked at me and said you are cruel man making your misses scrub the bottom of the boat, he grinned and said it is exactly what he would do……….
