Day 3 - Lyme Regis

Tue 22 Jul 2008 13:35
We pulled anchor at 4:00AM Tuesday the 22nd July and ended up in Lyme Regis
50:43.23N 2:56.02W

The day started early with a 4:00AM start to make the most of the tide
around Portland head. We were making great time and speed as we rounded the
Portland race only to be becalmed and were forced to use what wind we could
and head for Lyme Regis.

Anyhow if you think getting up at 4AM is bad try sleeping peacefully while
lying at anchor. Fiona and I have done it quite a few time around the Solent
we even went out and upsized our anchor to a 45 pounder which should be
plenty however it never came with a peaceful night sleep. After jumping up
to investigate every gust of wind and creak the yacht makes throughout the
night my sleep was not the best. How would you lie having everything you
worked for hanging on the end of a 8mm chain while you are sleeping. Anyhow
I hope this is just setting out nerves.

Fiona after completing her Day Skipper Theory last Friday has been an
absolute godsend, plotting each course we take and keeping a log of our
trip. Check her out with the Bino's.

Also I headed straight for the tackle shop the minute we got in this arvo
for a Sea Base lure. Check it out it is a small mackerel lure set to dive at
20' for those big hook ups. It is only a matter of time now and I will be
selling fish of the back of this boat.
