I always knew I wanted to sail, fish and enjoy the ocean, gee wiz I think
the only dreams I have ever remembered is sailing into an island bay
somewhere and trading a big bag of rice for the wears and tears of the
island. That was all a dream then, but now we needed to both know it is
something that we really wanted to do, so we learnt to sail.

I enrolled in a Day Skippers course and Fi did her competent crew, and is
still working very hard to get there! We learnt on a 36' Defour Sloop
chartered by the Hamble School of Yachting. The course itself lasted 3
weekends and was loads of fun. The minute I knew Fiona was happy sailing I
was sold on the fact that our departure of England was going to be via the
English channel and the feared Bay of Biscay.
