We pulled up the anchor Tuesday 2nd December at 11:25 and headed to a small fishing village on another Island around the corner. Tarrafal 16:57.16N 25:98.63W

Finally we have found the perfect place to anchor and stay. Upon landing the dingy on the beach we headed for anything that looked remotely civilized only to find a small hotel style bungalow. As we entered the owner Frank a German man directed us to his fridge and just said if you are thirsty help your self. I new that instant I had died and gone to heaven. We pigged out on fresh tuna and salad, beer and the local moonshine rightfully named ‘Grog’ as we sat in the little bay while fisherman did their thing and our yachts just sat and drifted in the currents.

The small island was amazing, the water was deep and clear, I woke to find Silky surrounded by millions of fish of all shapes and sise’s. So I jumped in.

I only hope we can find more amazing places like this little tucked away gem. The thing that still trips me out was we were below a 2000 mtr volcano to one side and the other side of us was literally the Caribbean. 2100 miles away. Amazing to think we just dropped out hook and slept so peacefully with all of that water waiting for us.

Special comments by Fiona:  We planned to stop and anchor here for the night, as we passed this little village on our way out to the Atlantic, so why not stop off?  We arrived in company with our new friends Emma and Dave on “Old Bob”.  Once the anchor was dropped the four of us immediately went to shore to explore and stock up on last minute fruit and veg.

Once ashore and a short walk along the seafront, it was evident that this place was something special - remote and untouched by hundreds of tourists unlike most ports.  After a few sun downer’s and a belly full of local food the four of us decided to stay an extra night as the beauty of this island was too good to only stay one night.  This island was nothing like I’d ever been to or experienced so far.  I’m so glad we decided to stay another night before setting off for the longest leg of our trip so far.
