We slipped our ropes from our mooring 25^th October at 14:28 and headed for Calero Marina, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. 28:56.95N 13:42.33W 

We had been at sea for 5 nights and 6 days which really let us get use to the boat at sea. We realized that we were a little under powered electrically so we fitted a wind generator. This was quite a big job and took the entire week.

Special comments by Fiona: My excitement grew as I finally spotted land, the island of Lanzarote.  We were still 22 miles until we reached the marina but it felt like we’d made it.  I can’t describe the feeling I had when we did finally moor up to our berth at 3pm that day.  I felt an overwhelming sense of achievement that we’d made it this far.  It was our longest stint so far and it wasn’t easy going, having been through a gale and roaring sea’s.  I quickly forgot about how scared I’d been and almost didn’t want to stop.   I was exhausted but on a high with adrenaline.  After a quick tidy up of the boat we hit shore and treated ourselves to a nice dinner. Atlantic crossing…..bring it on!

The next day we hired a car, which was a great change from the boat and explored the island which is very unique. 

We ran into our Aussie mate Colin and his crew, who we met in Lisbon in another marina and had a beer and dinner with them.
