We chugged from Pico to Horta on Faial in glorious sunshine and the temperature approaching 80 degrees with Pico mountain dominating the background.

Horta is by far the biggest and busiest marina in the Azores and is apparently the world’s fourth most visited marina.

We visited the legendary Peter’s Bar, but compared to our last visit here in 2007 on our way back from the Carribbean, it was all a bit flat: not too many yachties and far more tourists.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed a few drinks and bought the mandatory T shirts and model sperm whale, which are no longer carved from whale bone, but eco- acceptable cow bone!
