After 3 very wet days that did little to dampen the Spanish enthusiasm for all-night revelry, we were pleased  to be able to stock up our food supplies and move on from Camarinas. Our target was Vigo, about 90 miles to the south, where we hope to arrange somewhere to leave the boat during the winter months. We decided to make it 3, easy 30 mile legs with nights spent in anchorages at Sardineiro and Corrubedo.
Cape Finisterre is about 20 miles south of Camarinas and we planned an inshore route which would pass within 100 yards of this dramatic headland. There is a Christians tradition of walking from Santiago de Compestello to this headland which marks “ the end of the earth “and we sailed close enough to the cliffs to wave at the pilgrims as they completed their marathon trek.
As we approached Vigo, there was a welcome change in the weather and we enjoyed sailing in bright, sunny conditions with a breeze that allowed us to whiz along at full speed.
We have spent 2 nights in a small sailing club near the shipyards at Vigo and have been in touch with the yard where we plan to overwinter Flinesse and we have taken the opportunity to SKYPE friends and family.
From now until we fly home in September, we plan just to relax and explore this beautiful area at a very leisurely pace.
