A couple of days ago we had to collect a friend and some equipment from the ferry port of Chacapata on the north coast of Venezuela. It is only a small port but bustling with people going to and fro from Isla Margarita, a Venezuelan tax free port. Up to 60 passengers disembark from a ferryboat smaller than Chaser ll carrying air conditioning units, microwave ovens, wines and whiskeys. Taxis gather at the small dock waiting for their fares, we drove there too, a nice ride, though a little bumpy.

On route we passed a lagoon full of wildlife where luckily we managed to capture a picture of a very rare bird. Its Latin name apparently being Flamingoso doscabezisus, or the Flamingo with two heads, remarkable!

Tomorrow we are doing a little exploring, leaving early  in our Jeep driving inland through remote mountains and lush countryside to a town called Maturin. More on that next time
