Finally, we arrive in Cuba, at a clearance port, a marina called Marlin Marina. We tried anouncing our arrival by calling Marina Santiago on Channel 16, then Marina Puerto del sol, (same place but one book said there'd been a name change) but no joy. We call maritime security but again no reply. We carried on in, through a 2 mile long narrow entry channel, the shoreline was beautiful, with colourful, old fishermans houses lining the waterfront. We then entered a giant enclosed bay, to the right of which was the marina (so we understood). But, there they were, the marina staff standing on the docks, welcoming us in.

No problems this time, we could clear in. We were told that first the doctor would come to make sure it was safe for the customs and officials to come aboard. Half hour later, the doctor came, asked us how we were, we said 'fine thanks' and he cleared us for the onsluaght of the other officials waiting to board. He did check our fridge for foodstuffs that he may consider dangerour or illegal, (like beef and pork) but we had none of that in the fridge.

Next came two guys from immigration, filled out a few forms, gave them a beer. Off they went content, then two more guys with sniffer dogs came aboard, more forms and beer. Then on came customs, they had a good look round, checking everything, more I think to see if there was anything they would like that we may not need. Whatever, very nice, very polite people.

Finally we are here on Cuban Soil, first stop, marina bar for a Mojito, Rum, Ice, Lime and mint!!!!

Cienfuegos looks good.
