We've been here over a week now, how time flies. During our travels we have spoken of buying another dinghy and outboard if the price was right. Rumour has it Venezuela is the place to buy if they are available. Apparently most of these dinghies and ourtboards are exported because they make more money that way, few get to the local market and those that do get snapped up fast. Chris and Tony also wanted a larger dinghy so together we went scouting to see what was available.

You have to remember, we don't have a car, so our dinghy is our only form of transport. If the shopping area is a mile or two from Chaser the shops are closed before we get there in our dinghy.

We spoke to our new neighbours, they have been living here and about for the past thirteen years, they know better than us the system and places to go etc. Tony and I checked out a couple of shops, one place had good prices but couldn't get any dinghies for 6 months. We did find tw other shops though, boat had a couple of boats to choose from. After a few measurements we came to our decisions. Tony went for the AB, I went for the Caribe. I'm sure Tony really only went for the AB because it was lighter and would go faster than us, so competitive, he always has to go a bit faster than we do. Wait till I clean my bottom!

The next day the girls went shopping for material to make a cover. These dinghies need to be protected from the sun or they degrade so quickly. Walander chose Beige, but irt was blue for Chaser.
