While Helmsley takes the wheel, we crack open a
bottle of Champagne to celebrate, taking the photo was the hard
bit!
Our position is 17.03.78N 37.55.74W as you can see we are past the
halfway mark about 0600hrs this morning.
The sea is still quite rough and the winds 20-25 knots so we're bobing
around a bit under our rreefed twizzle rig.
I'll keep the log short again today but I'll add notes to it at a later
date, its to uncomfortable to write.
We have heard through the radio and ARC office of a couple of problems, a
100 foot yacht 'Mustang' was dismasted, all are ok, the yacht 'Compromise' 32 ft
has had a problem, apparently according to crew the skipper
has had a breakdown, the crew feel their lives are in danger
and issued a mayday, yacht 'Mirabella' is comingto theire aid, and an
alluminium boat was hit by a whale, damage was small and repaired.
You can see more on these stories on the ARC website www.worldcruising.com under ARC not arc europe, then
checkout positions and or news etc.
Our friend James on apparition took a wave over the stern which entered his
companion way and flooded the aft cabin soaked the bedding, and we heard another
boat who was having trouble pouring his beer and wine, spilling most of it
before getting his lips to it.
We are both ok and in good spirits, so far so good.
