We left Jamaica for Cuba in calm seas, we had a
good sail overnight. Santiago de Cuba is still closed as a port on entry due
they say to their rubbish incineration plant not working. Obviously this is an
excuse, I personally believe it is more political, keeping the propaganda going
to the public for a forthcoming US invasion. This isn't gonna happen either, but
whatever it means we cannot clear in to Cuba there. The authorities told us that
we can clear in 200 miles west in Trinidad.
We arrived therefore west of Santiago De Cuba, and
anchored in a bay off the beach of Las Coloradas, the beach where Fidel Castro
and his troops landed his boat to begin the Cuban revolution 50 years ago.
We spent the night here to sleep before moving on west.
